The way it works is that a coil of copper wire is used to heat the stove. Which I’ve never had before so I had a bit of a learning curve. If you don’t have pots and pans that work with an induction stove top, you’ll need new ones. But I do miss having a clock to tell the time in the kitchen.ģ. I just use the timer on my phone instead. I wish there was a retro looking clock or timer- it’s be so cute and functional. But really, usually oven drawers are a pain to use so it’s not a big deal.Ģ. For a small kitchen, that made cookie sheet storage tricky. It kind of looks like there’s one, but it doesn’t open. There’s a power booster function so if you’re boiling water, it starts boiling quickly! A gallon of water boils in less than 5 minutes. The knobs themselves are beautiful and I love the switch for the oven light. I love that the knobs are at the front- I think it’s so much more of a stylish option than in the back! It can me nerve wracking with kids to have the controls where little ones can reach them, but for the stove top, you have to have a pot over the burner or it won’t heat up. oven prosĪgain, the reason you get this oven is because it looks SO good! It’s 1950’s styling while having modern technology. We have zero gas coming into our house (even the water heater is electric) so I choose Big Chill’s only electric option. ovenįor the oven, I got the 30″ Retro Electric Induction Range. For most people this won’t be an issue at all. The only issue is if you decide you want to change the layout of your room- you have to keep the fridge opening the same. When you order the fridge, you select which side it goes on. The only thing I could think of that I don’t like about the fridge is that you can’t change which side the handle is on. We were really stocked up the last few months and the fridge held everything nicely. The interior storage is great- there’s adjustable glass shelves and crisper drawers. The doors are nice and big- they can hold up to 3 gallons of milk. You can add an ice maker too if that’s something you’d like (I didn’t opt for one). I love how the freezer is a drawer so it pulls out and is easy to locate items in it. It’s Energy Star rated so it’s efficient too. From the color to the chrome pulls to the logo- it’s all so beautiful. The number one reason to get this fridge is because it looks SO good. I got this one instead of their more retro looking Original fridge because my husband and I love the idea of having the freezer on the bottom so that the fridge contents are at eye level. fridgeįor the fridge, I got the Retropolitan Fridge in Pastel Turquoise. Lots of people are completely covering up their appliances now (which I love too), but what if they were focal points? What if they were the stars of the kitchen show?! I mean, why not? Which is perfect for this 1951 house! Ever since I first started using these, I’ve gotten lots of questions on them. The styling is beautiful and feels straight out of 1950’s. A few months ago, my dreams came true when my Big Chill appliances arrived! They’re retro inspired and come in over 200 colors.
